Show Me The Body's fourth album, "Alone Together," is about praxis; turning belief into action, not just feeling it. Frontman Julian Pratt wrote much of it in Corpus, the band's basement studio and home, in the stretch after his daughter's birth, a period that left the record holding both the band's most harrowing and most joyous material at once.
Producers Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume III pushed the band toward a purer, more distilled version of their own sound, while composer Gio Escobar brought in horns that recast their riffs in the language of downtown New York jazz.
Grief shaped the album as deeply as fatherhood did. The record honors a mentor lost years earlier, and then, mid-process, a close friend and collaborator whose voice now opens the record itself. Rather than resolving that pain, "Alone Together" insists on continuing to love and fight anyway. A record about staying tender and staying ready to fight, at the same time.
