Luke Bonenfant and Gavin Kim met as castmates in School of Rock: The Musical on Broadway. At the same time, drummer Jake Radano began making music with Gavin in their South Jersey hometown, starting a years-long pursuit to create a band of their own. With a burning desire to bring a growing discography to life, Gavin and Jake reunited with Luke, now an experienced music producer, in their first year at college. It was instantly clear that a very special band was forming, with just one problem: they needed a singer. Gavin brought an unfinished demo back to classically-trained vocalist and Rutgers classmate, Kenna Heim, which instantly convinced her to join. A year later, Blush Boy released its first EP: Heartstrings & Other Things. Blush Boy has become a staple in the basements and DIY venues of the members’ universities, being Rutgers, Rowan, and NYU.
