Description
DJ T-1000 lands at FIST to deliver pure, unfiltered techno. The Berlin-based, Detroit-born artist has been active since the genre’s birth, working from the late ‘80s onward with Transmat, Djax, UR and many more. Across almost a dozen aliases and collaborations, DJ T-1000 has explored every facet of techno, from its soulful depths to thundering, claustraphonic futurism. This year’s “Prisma” EP sees him in full force, with a pair of tracks that tap into the genre’s limitless wellspring of vitality. Rave sorceress Sevyn 0000 returns to FIST. An artist with a strong allegiance to the party’s ethos, Sevyn 0000 summons a dark aggression and cathartic power, foregrounding the sound of digital noise and twisted steel. This is cutting edge techno from just beyond the threshold of the future. Word of Command and DJ Clone spare no one. The residents and organizers behind FIST, their fascination with the subversive and extreme bleeds through everything they do.
STUDIO hosts three debuts: DJ Warning headlines the room. The LA artist holds nothing back. Last year, he released the aptly-titled “Cinematic Dance Musiq” on the also aptly-titled label Gyration Station. From the opening bassline of “Hear Me,” DJ Warning shows no mercy. These are unflinching bangers for only the most liberated dancefloors. Mother Daughter Dance also makes their debut - kind of. The project is a new collaboration from TT and Ryker, two artists who should be familiar to any repeat BASEMENT attendee. MDD sees both selectors letting loose, indulging their proclivities for grooving, progressive strains, trance-y house, and pumping, jacking rhythms. They are joined by DJ Shannon, the NY-based house maven whose command of deep, timeless sounds is unimpeachable. In addition to her honed DJ craft, Shannon has been a consistent community force, holding a residency at The Lot and running the Club Management interview series.
