Description
Summer launches with a night of timeless techno. Function has been a cornerstone of BASEMENT’s calendar since the club opened its doors, and with good reason. He is one of the truly seminal techno auteurs of the last three decades. Function’s body of work has a towering influence on the countless producers; from his early solo excursions to his collaborations with Regis and Silent Servant as Sandwell District, his career-high solo LP “Incubation” on Ostgut Ton and his recent releases on his own Infrastructure New York label, every transmission finds new pathways to stunning expressiveness and understated sonic impact. 1morning is one of the most exciting new voices in taut, looping techno. The LA artist has made an undeniable impression over the last few years, churning out one belter after another. His releases on labels like Arts Collective, Ilian Tape and Fixed Rhythms teem with unstoppable urgency and a clarity of purpose that cannot be ignored. Marteka Fair makes her debut. The North Carolina artist has mastered the spiral, pushing a heady, captivating vision of techno that is strikingly unique. She describes her music as “just adventuring through space and time...chill stuff,” but that’s not quite the whole story. Releases like “Nekyia” throb with primeval power.
Analog Soul returns to the room. While they’ve been a presence at the club since its earliest days, the duo has distinguished themselves as one of STUDIO’s key acts. Their ethos speaks to their integrity: no hype, pure quality. Analog Soul brings their decades immersed in dance music to bear in every set, matching their digger knowledge with flawless technique. Michael Cignarale has become a regular presence in STUDIO. Few artists embrace the raw, expressive hedonism of house music quite like Cignarale. Exhibit A: his album “Operatic Orgasm,” which features a close up of the producer’s face covered in pink glitter and includes track titles like “Poppers”, “Take My Body” and, simply, “Horny”. Or, more recently, the “Dance Like We Are Lovers” EP with remixes from Justin Cudmore and BASHKKA. Each new record sees Cignarale doubling down on unbridled liberation, catty defiance and pure, lusty energy. Dalston Superstore resident J. Aria returns to the room. The Londoner forgoes propriety in favor of explosive club bombast. Last year’s “CHEEKY MINXXX” EP followed up 2024’s “PUSSY SUITE,” with another dose of unrepentantly feverish desire.
