Description
As she launches her third album era, girli is embracing unvarnished authenticity with a clear sense of purpose, documenting her songwriting process in real time to strip away the “faux mystery” of traditional rollouts. Refusing to censor herself, she is reconnecting with the political spark that has always shaped her work, speaking openly on feminism, queer rights, trans rights, immigrant rights, and the rise of the far right.
Her upcoming third album it’s just my opinion (8 May 2026) is a box-fresh, sonically cohesive record that returns to her musical roots, channelling the energy of indie sleaze and her teenage nights in Camden and Shoreditch into sharp, alt-pop built for sweaty live rooms. Lead single “Better Undressed” is described as a “fun but sad song about wanting to hook up again after a breakup,” while “Slap on the Wrist” stands as one of her most politically charged tracks yet, confronting male violence and systemic failure to protect survivors.
Across her career, girli (Milly Toomey) has built a reputation for fearless, candid songwriting on identity, sexuality, mental health and self-expression, alongside a committed live presence that has taken her across major festivals and headline tours worldwide. After early industry setbacks, she rebuilt her career independently, driven by the belief that her purpose is to make people feel seen and less alone through radical honesty in her music.
