Description
Like a siren song, Sam Wade was lured into fatherhood with a catchy jingle written by his wife.
Sam never thought he would be a Dad. Transitions can be hard when you have autism, and having a baby is one of life's biggest curveballs. Crying, no sleep, isolation, crippling anxiety… and then there's the baby. Turns out fatherhood is more than BBQs and Hawaiian shirts.
1 year later, Sam is the proudest Dad. He’s learned a lot: From one handed midnight nappy changes, autism being the unexpected key to understanding babies and how to feel his feelings rather than intellectualising them like a big dumb man.
But most importantly Sam realised the importance of creating a ‘village’ of loved ones to help. As the world gets scarier, and petrol prices rise higher than Sam's blood pressure, will it take a village to make the world a better place? It’s worth a try.
After a successful Sydney Fringe season, It Takes a Village, Idiot is returning one night only to The Vanguard in Newtown. A wholesome interactive comedy hour on parenthood, neurodivergency and making the world a better place.
