He’s back: DJ Stingray 313 returns to BASEMENT. One of the certified icons of techno and electro, Stingray’s career is indelibly intertwined with the history of those twin genres. Originally the touring DJ for the mysterious Underground Resistance-affiliated duo Drexciya, Stingray has since forged his own path as a peerless ambassador for Detroit. Mixing raw, battle-style cutting and scratching with searing urgency and unstoppable groove, Stingray offers up a bracing reminder of how vital dance music can be. Mild Fantasy’s Elle Dee has been a mainstay in BASEMENT for years, and by now you should know the drill: fearless, driving techno, simmering atmospheres and moments of thundering intensity. One of NY’s mainstays, she is a world class selector and a hometown hero. Juno returns to the room. Rooted in techno's radical histories, Juno embraces the frenetic and focused in equal measure. In the process, they embody the timeless urgency that energized the genre during its formative era.
DJ KILLING makes his STUDIO debut. The Berlin artist has one of the most apt aliases in the business; he’s the kind of DJ who holds nothing back and leaves dancers in a state of euphoric shock at the end of his sets. Calling himself “the Wilmersdorf Brat,” KILLING threads innumerable genres together into a single, pumping whole. Saucy, eclectic, even chaotic, but perfect - DJ KILLING delivers the goods. Manu Miran is one of NY’s premier party starters. The founder of the Visceral party series, Miran activates the dance floor with riotous, jacking house and feverish club sounds. There’s a nail-biting tension in his mixes that is electrifying; it’s no surprise he has become an unmissable presence over the last few years. Peter Napoli also steps into the booth at STUDIO for the first time. Prepare to sweat; Napoli’s disco-tinged funk is positively lurid. A New York lifer, Napoli has been active in the queer underground over the last fifteen years.
