Description
Oscar Mulero headlines a night of hypnotic density. The Spanish auteur is one of the defining voices in modern techno, with a discography that homes in on eerie undulations and elemental, throbbing low end. As one of the key forces behind PoleGroup as well as his own Warm Up Recordings, Mulero has had a significant hand in shaping the modern landscape. His own productions are masterclasses in the power of restraint; Mulero finds stunning depth and seismic power in a few carefully-arranged elements. And yet his work also feels raw, even punk in its attitude. He’s joined by Polygonia, one of the most exciting voices in atmospheric techno today. Across a series of EPs and albums, Polygonia has rendered the genre as an ultra-HD ecosystem, with immaculate sound design that draws you deeper and deeper into the mix. Recent collabs with Rrose and Wata Igarashi show her in full stride alongside some of her most notable forebears, while her solo works are instantly integrated into countless DJ sets. Boyd Schidt makes his debut. The Georgian artist - also one half of the Greenbeam & Leon - has for over fifteen years been carving a path through deep, cerebral sounds. His releases on labels like KHIDI, Omen and Sonic Groove exemplify techno at its thundering-yet-mercurial best.
STUDIO resident celebrates two decades of production with a special “20 Years of Massimiliano Pagliara” night. In honor of the anniversary, Pagliara has prepared a compilation of unreleased material from his earliest years, released on his own Funnuvojere Records. The album shows how Pagliara’s unmistakable signature has been present from the beginning. Whether basking in romantic italo collaborations or setting his sights on delectable disco-house grooves, Pagliara’s unabashed sensuality has always been a cornerstone of his sound. What’s remarkable is how, as much as he evolves and grows as an artist, Pagliara is always effortlessly himself. 20 years is no small feat. Come celebrate the maestro. Alinka returns to join him. A fellow house lifer, Alinka’s music adds a twist of the unexpected to beloved, classic tropes. Rooted in Chicago’s essential lineages, her productions and sets are of a piece with the best of the genre; her most recent “DGTL EP” pulsates with hedonistic tension and glistening drama. Planet Love founder James Axon continues his tenure in the room. The LA-based artist matches the buoyancy of the rest of the lineup while adding a dose of feverish intensity. Axon brings his many years of formal musical training to the booth, weaving together fully-realized journeys that stretch the language of dance music.
