Description
Modern Alibi is a high-energy alt rock band from Charlotte, NC, founded by musician and songwriter, Holden Scott. The band features Holden Scott on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Josh King on bass, Christian Sturt on drums, and Carter Ritz on lead guitar. The 4-piece indie rock band delivers a heavy vibe tempered by grooving bass lines, modern drumbeats, vintage guitar tones, and a uniquely rich and rhythmic vocal tone. Their sound has been described as a blend of the Arctic Monkeys and twenty one pilots.
The band released three singles in 2023 followed by its debut EP, "M/A Extended Play," in March 2024. In April 2025, Modern Alibi released its 12-song debut album, “American Radio”. The band’s music catalogue has gained substantial traction in 2025 with over 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and over 12 million streams.
Known for their energetic and hard-hitting live performances, the band has opened for Friday Pilots Club in Charlotte in 2024, the All-American Rejects in October 2025, and iDKHow for 2 shows in November 2025. In 2024, the band was invited to perform at the inaugural Lovin’ Life Festival and the main stage at the Charlotte Pride Festival, a 2-day festival with attendance of over 260K. In 2025, Modern Alibi headlined sold-out and near sold-out shows at venues including Amos’ SouthEnd, Neighborhood Theatre, Visulite Theatre and Snug Harbor in Charlotte. In December 2025, the band headlined shows at Mercury Lounge in NYC, World Café Live in Philadelphia, and Songbyrd in Washington, DC, marking their first headlining performances in these cities.
In between their busy performance and touring schedule, Modern Alibi has also been in the studio working on its second album which it expects to release in the spring of 2026.
