Description
This day-into night begins in The Nursery before moving indoors for our usual property-wide club night. Re-entry is permitted until midnight, based on capacity.
Two of New York’s deepest dance music institutions lead all four dancefloors for this 13-hour, day-into-night affair. Things kick off in The Nursery at 3 PM, with Niyah West’s and Madre Guía’s bold and brazen back-to-back setting the stage for Soul Summit, who take us just past sunset. The Sound Room opens at 8 PM. Suze Ijo approaches “house” as a feeling; her transhistorical sets traverse deep-cut RnB and warm, pulsing soul. Timmy Regisford closes out the room in usual Shelter fashion: with grooves that go deep and deeper into the early morning hours. Shawn Dub begins a 6-hour selector set UPSTAIRS at 9 PM, and starting at 11 PM, The Atrium is helmed by two DJ duos seeking to bridge the physical and mental. Soul Connection’s Lovie & Honey Bun triangulate the mind, body, and soul through sensual, Black femme artistry, while Analog Soul’s music-first ethos and expansive, funk-filled sets have a knack for connecting dancers with the present.
