An evening of movement, sound and performance in support of The Movement of Violence, Northern Ireland, a new film by Deirdre Lewis, currently in development. Presented by Paradise Productions with the generous support of Nowadays
About the Film
The Movement of Violence, Northern Ireland is an experimental dance film blending archival material, documentary footage and choreographed sequences to reflect on post-conflict Northern Ireland through both personal and collective memory.
Centered on rave and dance culture as spaces of release, belonging and resistance, the project traces how histories of violence continue to live on in the body. The film, produced by Paradise Productions, is currently in development, with production set to begin this summer.
About Deirdre Lewis
Deirdre Lewis is a Black Northern Irish visual artist working across photography and moving image. Raised in Derry and now based in New York, her work explores identity, culture and belonging through an emotionally driven visual language. This film marks her directorial debut.
About Oona Doherty
Oona Doherty is an award-winning Belfast-based choreographer known for her raw and emotionally charged movement language. Her work draws from youth culture and lived experience in Northern Ireland, exploring themes of identity, class and spirituality.
