Jesca Hoop's Long Wave Home (released May 1st) spills with hope for a broken world. The seventh solo album from the California-born, Manchester-based songwriter took shape amidst a period of both personal and geopolitical upheaval: a web of schisms that seemed to reflect one another as they unfolded. It is the first album Hoop produced by herself, and it marks both a fresh start and a deepening of her extensive, multifaceted discography. Across the record's rich and sumptuous tracks, Hoop deeply considers what it is that people owe to each other: in individual relationships, in community, and as witnesses to the broader world. These days run thick with terror. Long Wave Home sinks into it and surfaces anew with a nimble, inquisitive spirit.
FAUN FABLES have been trailblazers of avant-folk/original music since the turn of the century. Their work became internationally widespread by 2004 with the DRAG CITY RECORDS debut FAMILY ALBUM; the group touring grass roots, night club, theater & festival circuits in the USA, Europe, UK, Israel & Oceania. Their most recent album 'COUNTERCLOCKWISE' (2025) marked their eighth studio release with the label.Their songtelling practice is entwined with an holistic view of a life in music - celebrating the mundane details of time, home and family, elevated by a mystical and fantastical perspective. Watch the video single: EMBER BELL. DAWN McCARTHY's voice (which THE NEW YORKER described as “one of the more compelling instruments in contemporary music") opens hearts and minds from a whisper to a rallying battle cry into her mythical world, animated by the adventurous musicality and vocals of partner NILS FRYKDAHL (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum). A frequent collaborator with Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Dawn recorded 'THE LETTING GO' in Iceland and 'What the Brothers Sang' in Nashville with Will. They are joined by their daughter chorus - who've grown up alongside their writing, recording and touring since babies - with additional vocals, keyboards, percussion and wind instruments. FAUN FABLES currently hang their hats in Nevada County, California.
