Description
A legend walks among us for our first locals night of 2026: Joey Beltram makes his BASEMENT debut. A true techno pioneer and titan of NY’s rave underground, Beltram is the man behind 1990’s stone classic “Energy Flash,” truly one of the most iconic tracks ever pressed to wax. But beyond that early hit, Beltram’s output includes one fiery ‘90s techno banger after another. “Metro” and “Game Form” on Tresor are essential, as is his output on Synewave. Since that breakout era, he has remained a revered presence, embodying the best of the genre in an ever-changing landscape. Rose Kourts and Sister Zo team up for a special collab. Both selectors are renowned for their mixture of heavyweight power and nimble, dexterous movement. Rose Kourts’ exploratory vision of techno mixes the slamming with the strange, calling back to claustrophobic jack tracks, scuzzy electro, acid wormholes and soaring moments of peak time joy. Sister Zo’s radical reinvention of bass music is some of the best in the game today. Rooted in the feverish, syncopated rhythms of the UK, Sister Zo nonetheless nods to a staunch tradition of midwest raving. There’s a timeless technoid spirit at the core of her work. Markus ramps up the intensity, with a blistering energy that’s counterbalanced by lurid, pumping urgency.
In STUDIO, two legends face off; Mike Servito and Lauren Flax are NYC’s two signature acid house practitioners, each finding their own signature approach to jacking, grooving house. Servito is a living icon, revered for his “hit-and-run” sets, in the immortal words of Derek Plaslaiko. Or perhaps Echtomorph’s Brendan Gillen said it better: "When he's mixing, he isn't asking you to dance. He is giving you a massive bitch slap." Flax matches the fiery impunity with her own defiant attitude and ninja-level precision. Both are DJs whose impeccable technique, timeless taste and whose propensity for scene-stealing sets are known across the land. Meilgaarden and Ian Crane’s b2b is a modern standout. Pushing each other further into their own collections, they tap a vein of roiling progressive house, euphoric rave and out-and-out classics. Precious Moments founder CHOQUE completes the lineup. His sets weave between heavy club energy from across the spectrum: raptor house, baile funk, acid, house and more. The Venezuelan-born artist wastes no time, in his own words, “providing a sexy inviting exciting and fucking good time.”
