The Nomads - Red Room "Local Series"The Nomads, bring their blend of mountain rock and metal to the Lake Tahoe Music scene and beyond. The band, features local rockers from various projects including: Kandy Xander (Metal Echo, Moonlight Movement, Fortress ), Jeff Martin (Racer X, Surgical Steel, Badlands, Fortress and The Greg Golden Band), Dave Hatchet (Fortress) & George Grass (Fortress and Metal Echo) and The Nomads founding member Barry Thys. The Nomads came together several years ago just for some fun jams. Well, things took off from there when they realized they had formed an incredibly special alliance of musicians. Since they were all raised on rock and heavy metal they started jamming songs from artists they all admire such as Led Zeppelin, Joan Jett, AC/DC, Pat Benatar, Heart, Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Scorpions, Joan Jett, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio and more! This made for a fun rock through the decades cover band that Tahoe fans have come to know and love! They've been performing in and around the Lake Tahoe and Reno scene for the past several years and are best known for their incredible outdoor winter  concerts set to fireworks like the Palisades Tahoe New Years Eve torchlight parade, as well as,the annual North Lake Tahoe SnowFest opening night festivities. People are still raving about their epic performance for Sunnyside's 'Rock the Barge' 5th of July celebration where they performed on a floating barge. Most notably, they won BEST BAND at the 2023 Guitar Strings vs Chicken Wings competition put on by Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences at Palisades Tahoe *Standing Room Only
