Description
EMC, WIP Music and Club 77 present François K — A Conversation Through Music with Lorna Clarkson — an intimate evening of music, memory and meaning with one of dance music’s most influential architects.
Born in France and based in New York since 1975, François Kevorkian (François K) is a legendary DJ, producer, label owner, engineer and remixer whose five-decade career has helped define how electronic music is played, recorded and experienced. He began his journey in iconic clubs defining the culture of dance music like Studio 54, The Loft, Paradise Garage, Better Days, Zanzibar as well as New York, New York and many others.
From these iconic club residencies, to his incredible studio work and collaborations with U2, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Diana Ross and Australia's Midnight Oil - François has proven invaluable to the influence of disco and electronic music history, consistently choosing depth over scale, intimacy over spectacle, and community over commerce.
In this in-conversation with Lorna Clarkson, François shares his creative journey through music — reflecting on the evolution of electronic culture, the importance of musical diversity in the booth, and the enduring power of sound to bring people together. Expect an evening of long-form storytelling, listening, and cultural context — built for dedicated music lovers, vinyl collectors, DJs, and anyone who values the lineage behind the music.
Supported by local vinyl selector Boogie Monster.
