Califone at Substation Seattle Substation presents: Califone with support from Melanie Radford - Melanie Radford https://melanieradford.com is an American bassist and vocalist of multiple genres, best known for playing bass for the 90’s indie rock band Built to Spill (https://www.builttospill.com/home) since her first show with them in 2019 to the present. She has been critically acclaimed by publications and fans alike for her technicality, energy, and expressive performances with Built to Spill, her heavy “post riot grrl” band Blood Lemon https://www.bloodlemonmusic.com/(est. 2018) and her conceptual solo work centered around the bass guitar. Melanie grew up in Boise, Idaho where she became an integral part of the growing music community and collaborated with multiple indie acts around town. She is currently based in Seattle, Washington where she continues collaborations and is expanding her solo work with the release of her debut record this Summer on Jealous Butcher Records, details TBA.
