Garden State New Play Festival 2026
A Staged Reading of EIGHT HAND JIG
Written by MC Crosby
Dramaturgy by Emily Dzioba
Can a dancing Irish banshee banish the patriarchy? Imagine square dancing, but better: that is an Irish Ceili, folk dancing with emcee, partners, and prances. Within this framework, we learn the O’Malley family history, both in 2035 Chicago, and 1701 Dublin. The play switches swiftly from movement to dialogue, and each participatory physical number moves the plot forward as we see past and future collide, with decimated women’s rights in both.
