For almost 20 years, he has studied tabla as an act of joy, dexterity, and spiritual practice, blending intricate rhythmic patterns with contemporary genres. Raised in Maryland by parents from Hyderabad, India, Sid began learning tabla as a child. By age ten, he was outperforming his instructors and soon began training under tabla master Pandit Samir Chatterjee, who remains his Guru today. From him, Sid learned not just technique, but the deeper math, language, and poetry of Indian classical music.
