Over the years, Tripeo has edged out an exceptional corner of the techno spectrum for himself. Brought to life as Darko Esser’s puristic alter ego, he has gradually returned to his namegiver’s eclectic roots, while also delving deeper into his musical metier. Each new Tripeo track is a clever patchwork of pulsating rhythms and minimalistic melodies – seemingly simple, yet utterly refined. Darko Esser’s devotion to electronic music spans several decades. He has built his international reputation based on two small, but tight-knit music communities in Holland. First as a talent buyer at Groningen’s Simplon, later as a booker and resident of Doornroosje in Nijmegen. Thanks in great part to his efforts, Planet Rose has become one of Europe’s longest-running techno nights. Together with his labels Wolfskuil and Balans, this has cemented the town’s reputation as a remarkable techno hub and has boosted Darko’s prominence as an excellent curator.
