Description
Noche de Kumbia, founded and hosted by Eva Maria "La Gabachita Kumbiambera," began in the basement of Thalia Hall in 2024. What started in a small basement grew into a consistently sold-out, wall-to-wall event and has since become a recognizable and must-attend party within Chicago's music scene.
Rooted in culture and nostalgia, Noche de Kumbia celebrates the resurgence of a genre many of us grew up hearing at family parties--now embraced by a new generation like never before. The night blends traditional cumbia with subgenres such as cumbia rebajada, cumbia wepa, and cumbia oscura, creating a sound that honors the past while pushing it forward.
On Friday, February 6, Noche de Kumbia brings that energy to the Ramova Loft for a special Noche de Kumbia con Amor edition. Eva Maria will be joined by special guests DJ Chihuahua, the NYC-based producer behind the international hit 'Por Que Te Vas? ", and Flores Negras, queen of the underground and founder of MICTLAN productions.
More than just a party, Noche de Kumbia is a space for community, movement, and connection.
