Located in Naples, the cultural heartbeat of Southern Italy, Anfisa immerses herself in a club culture defined by sincerity and passion, fueling her deep fascination with electronic music. This dynamic environment allowed her to absorb the eclectic sounds of numerous international DJs, nurturing her love for record collecting and the rich spectrum of underground electronic music. Her early productions draw inspiration from the minimal, hypnotic, and groovy techno and house sounds that rose to prominence in Naples. After several years in the Italian club circuit, Anfisa experienced a defining moment through a serendipitous encounter with Carl Cox. This meeting opened the door to newfound support within the techno scene; Carl acknowledged her productions and began to advocate for her work—a casual encounter that proved transformative. This connection led to the release of her music on his esteemed label, Intec Digital, where her EPs, “So Good” and “Hypnotic,” established a presence in the label's catalog. Soon, labels sought her out for releases, and she has since contributed to the catalogs of notable labels, including Kompakt, Deutsche Grammophon, Rekids, Nervous Records, and Hotflush, among others. In 2021, driven by the desire to weave a narrative through a distinct musical vision, Anfisa launched her own record label, NSDA. Inspired by the Island of Nisida and the sea—Anfisa’s primal influence that resonates deeply with her as a Pisces—water is her natural element. Its power inspires profound and hypnotic sounds, while its fluidity crafts her melodies. The label embodies the mystical and intriguing facets of electronic music. It reflects the city’s volcanic, chaotic energy, propelling both music and vision to be introspective and vibrant. NSDA features works and remixes from prominent artists such as DJ Rush, Answer Code Request, Marcel Dettmann, Exos, Anastasia Kristensen, Anfisa herself and many others. In 2022, Moby approached her to remix his iconic track ‘Go’ for Deutsche Grammophon. Their collaboration flourished over the next two years, culminating in the release of ‘You & Me,’ where Anfisa not only produced but also lent her voice to create a driving, wistful electronic piece enriched with dreamy layers, later receiving remixes from both Deetron and Moby himself. Increasingly, Letyago’s solo productions, including ‘Rosso Profondo,’ ‘Feelin,’ ‘In My Arms,’ the recent release ‘Radar,’ and ‘Confusion’ in collaboration with Unfinished Portraits, prominently feature her own vocals. “The most important instrument we have is our voice; through it, you can express the deepest concepts and create some of the most hypnotic sounds imaginable.” In 2024, Anfisa Letyago won the ‘DJ of the Year’ award at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards, a significant achievement for an underground artist and a testament to her invaluable recognition in the international music scene.
