From a Geffen Records deal to a 2024 XXL Freshman Class selection, collaborations with Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, GloRilla, DaBaby, Polo G, and Tee Grizzley, and a community spirit that has made him one of Detroit's most beloved figures, Skilla Baby has earned everything he has through grit, hustle, and an unwavering love for his city. Miami fans can expect a night packed with his biggest records, fresh 2026 music, and the passionate, crowd-moving energy of an artist who has been through it all and is still standing strong.
About Skilla Baby
Born Trevon Gardner on October 2, 1998, in Detroit, Michigan, Skilla Baby grew up shaped by his father's eclectic record collection, which ranged from Luther Vandross and classic soul to Lil Wayne and Meek Mill, as well as the poetry and literature of the Harlem Renaissance. He earned his nickname Skillz through his passion for basketball, which he pursued through high school before a lack of college opportunities redirected his focus entirely to music around 2016. Working jobs at McDonald's and Walmart to fund studio sessions, he released his first mixtapes Push That Shit Out Skilla and Crack Music in 2019 and 2020, catching the attention of veteran Detroit rapper Sada Baby, who helped boost his profile significantly. His 2020 breakout track Womack put him on the map, followed by the collaborative project Carmelo Bryant with Sada Baby. Signing to Geffen Records in 2022, his major-label debut We Eat The Most hit number 16 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and established his crossover appeal with the smooth, female-friendly sound that has since become his calling card. His 2023 releases included the Tee Grizzley collaboration Controversy and his solo album We Eat The Most (Reloaded), while his 2024 mixtape The Coldest, featuring DaBaby, Flo Milli, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, and Rob49, entered the Billboard charts and confirmed his ascent. Named a 2024 XXL Freshman alongside 4Batz and others, he was also tapped as the BET Amplified artist of the month in April 2024, and Jack Harlow's name-drop on the chart-topping Lovin' On Me introduced him to an even wider audience. After surviving a targeted shooting in May 2025, Skilla Baby returned to music with renewed purpose, releasing Be Mine, NBA, LIL ANGEL "SHE HER", and Face Card featuring Bryson Tiller, alongside 2026 singles GYSM, West to East with 42 Dugg, and Thick One. Off the mic, he organized a gun buyback event in Detroit in 2024 and has long served as a community mediator, living out his motto: "Detroit vs. everybody."
