About Boston Richey Born Jalen Taheen Foster on February 4, 1997, in Tallahassee, Florida, Boston Richey did not begin pursuing music seriously until 2021, motivated by the passing of his cousin and mentor Slugg, who had been shot and killed in 2015. Taught to rap by Slugg and pushed into a recording studio by a close friend, he released his first song as Real Boston Richey, Big Y.I.C, and quickly followed it with Bullseye and the viral breakout Keep Dissing in March 2022, which set his creaky, distinctive voice to icy strings and distorted drum machines and instantly clocked millions of streams. In August 2022, Future appeared on his single Bullseye 2 and personally gifted Richey a chain after signing him to his Freebandz label, one of the most coveted co-signs in rap. His debut album Public Housing, released that same month, featured Future, Lil Durk, Kodak Black, and Moneybagg Yo, and landed in the top 40 of Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. After an extended version and the EP Trapping & Finessing, he signed with Epic Records and released his major-label debut Welcome to Bubba Land in September 2023. His 2024 single Help Me, produced by MacFly, became his first Billboard Hot 100 entry, peaking at number 47, and appeared on his album Richey Rich, which featured GloRilla and Lil Yachty and debuted at number 48 on the Billboard 200.
