Description
Day two of the Detroit Love takeover rises to the roof at Superior Ingredients as Carl Craig, Moodymann, Dennis Free, Luke Hess, and Valencia lead a daytime gathering shaped by sunlight, skyline views, and long afternoon blends. Following the intensity of Saturday night, Sunday opens the experience outward, trading shadows for open air while keeping the weekend’s Detroit foundation firmly intact.
Detroit Love was created by Carl Craig as a way to extend the musical values that helped shape Detroit into a global force. Across decades as an artist, producer, and label founder, Craig has remained central to the city’s influence, connecting techno, house, jazz, and experimental music through a fiercely independent lens. His Sunday rooftop set offers a more expansive counterpart to the night before, designed to unfold with the pace of the day.
Moodymann brings a presence inseparable from Detroit’s musical history, drawing from soul, jazz, blues, and house through a catalog that spans Planet E, Peacefrog, and his own Mahogani Music imprint. Luke Hess, a Metro Detroit native shaped by the city’s warehouse culture, adds a deep and meditative dimension with releases across Planet E, FXHE, Echocord, and Rekids. Dennis Free contributes a Brooklyn-rooted perspective, blending classic house with percussive club sounds and high-BPM grooves, while local support from Valencia opens the day and sets the tone.
Sunday’s rooftop edition highlights the lighter side of Detroit Love — connection, movement, and space to let the afternoon unfold naturally — closing the weekend with warmth and range.
