Sherbet Tone:
Sherbet Tone serves up satisfying jangle-pop from Portland, Ore. Conceived as a solo basement project by ex-Genders guitarist Stephen Leisy, a full-length of psychedelic pop (a la The Cleaners from Venus or White Fence) was put to hissing tape and is available for consumption on all streaming platforms. When a band was formed to perform live, new tunes grew ever-more jangly, Dwight Twilley Band–inspired, and dare we say, borderline power pop? Now a new record is on the release horizon, performed live as a full band and captured/engineered by Typhoon's Kyle Morton in his basement studio and mixed by the one-and-only Jeff Stuart Saltzman. It's a testament to how the project has become a group effort. Sherbet Tone is rounded out by Annie Miranda (Soft Cheese, How Strange It Is) on bass, Conner O'Shea (Soft Cheese) on guitar, and Corey Ciresi (Lee Corey Oswald) on drums and vocals.
Friends Friends:
Bringing a Midwest sensibility to the perennial Portland DIY music scene, Mack John, with the help of Nate Anderson, Matt Rossi, and Pat Tabrum, formed Friends Friends in 2023. Brightening up dark green spaces with an ignited optimism, Friends Friends shares a joy-filled performance that sways from twinkling guitars and soaring falsetto into grittier vocals and noisy rock n roll flourish.
Friends Friends surprises with a charming & uplifting sound. A band that sounds like the end of daylight savings time or flowers blooming in a basement.
