About Brass Against

Human existence depends on using music to make a statement and inspire change. These days, that call sounds like the fusion of a brass band, heavy rock, and powerful vocals from a group called Brass Against.
Curated by Brad Hammonds and led musically by baritone saxophonist Andrew Gutauskas, Brass Against began in 2017 as a musical response to the divisive tones of the time. Their viral cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” launched a movement blending political activism with genre-defying sound.
What began as fiery covers of Rage, Tool, Soundgarden, and Black Sabbath has evolved into a dynamic collective of jazz-rooted musicians, releasing five albums and bringing their explosive energy to audiences around the world. From Glastonbury to Java Jazz, from opening for Tool to sharing stages with Slipknot and Lenny Kravitz, Brass Against has made their mark.
Their version of “Wake Up” was featured in the credits of Matrix: Resurrections, and they recently completed scoring Uppercut, a Lionsgate feature film starring Ving Rhames.
Brass Against isn’t just about performance—it’s about passion, purpose, and a call to action. Rage. Energy. Motivation. Community. They’re the soundtrack to the moment—and a rallying cry for what comes next.
