Permanent Vacation wurde Mitte der 2000er-Jahre von Benjamin Fröhlich und Tom Bioly gegründet. Es entstand in einer Phase musikalischer Umbrüche: Während Minimal Techno die Clubs dominierte, formierte sich im Süden Deutschlands eine Gegenbewegung, die Disco, Cosmic, Balearic und House neu interpretierte. Ausgehend von obskuren Tapes, der Wiederentdeckung vergessener Musik und der frühen Vernetzung über MySpace entwickelte das Label schnell ein klar erkennbares Profil. Permanent Vacation machte früh mit Re-Releases und Remixen balearischer und kosmischer Klassiker auf sich aufmerksam, bevor es sich zunehmend als Plattform für zeitgenössische Clubmusik etablierte. Nach inzwischen über 370 Veröffentlichungen einer festen, aber auch immer weiter expandierenden Künstler*innenfamilie feiert das Crew seinen 20-jährigen Geburtstag mit einem beeindruck­enden Programm in der Panorama Bar, das der Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des Labels mehr als gerecht wird. Benjamin Fröhlich and Tom Bioly founded the Permanent Vacation label in the mid-00s during a period of musical upheaval: While minimal techno dominated the clubs, a counter-movement was forming in southern Germany that reinterpreted disco, cosmic, Balearic and house music. Starting with obscure tapes, the rediscovery of forgotten music and networking via MySpace, the label quickly developed a clearly recognizable profile. Permanent Vacation attracted attention early on with re-releases and remixes of Balearic and cosmic classics, then gradually establishing itself as a platform for contemporary club music. With over 370 releases from a solid yet ever-expanding roster, the crew is celebrating its 20th anniversary with an impressive lineup at Panorama Bar that does than justice to the label's past, present and future.
