Description
On Friday 27th February, the Oxford Art Factory becomes a pressure chamber of rolling basslines and deep jungle energy as we bring together some of the most influential figures in drum & bass history. Running 11pm–6am, this is a no-compromise D&B marathon built for the true heads.
Bailey (Metalheadz) — a selector whose legacy sits at the core of jungle’s evolution. From pirate radio roots on Energy FM, to his legendary residency at Metalheadz’ Blue Note sessions, to a decade shaping the sound for millions on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Bailey has stood as one of the genre’s most steadfast champions. Relentless, influential, and always future-facing, his sets continue to define what drum & bass can be.
Ray Keith (Dread Recordings) — a foundational architect of UK breakbeat culture. From his early rare-groove and acid-house days to the explosive rise of hardcore and jungle, Ray’s fingerprints are etched into every era of the movement. Known for genre-defining productions like the unstoppable “Terrorist”, and as the force behind pioneering labels Penny Black, Dread, and UFO, Ray Keith remains one of the most respected innovators in drum & bass.
Supporting them on local duties are Chris Munky and Foreigndub, weaving heavyweight rollers and timeless jungle flavours, setting the momentum and carrying the journey well into the morning.
Heavyweight Sessions is a rare alignment of iconic pioneers and modern torchbearers — a full-force celebration of jungle, drum & bass culture, and the selectors who continue to push it forward.
We acknowledge that this event is held on the stolen lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
