Out of the Ashes of Alma Negra, original members Erin Page (vox, guitar) and Greg Hamilton (guitar) joined Alan Mayne and (drums) and Dave Frush (bass) to form Reivers.
Emerging from the idealistic side of punk rock and inspired by the early eras of alternative music, The Static Age blends angular distortion and layered atmosphere into an ever-evolving collection of songs that owes as much to its origin in the wide expanse of the Vermont wilderness as it does to a blurring of the line between post punk and intelligent pop. The band has released six records to date and toured extensively across North America and Europe with a variety of others from AFI to Snuff. Now calling Chicago home, they're working on their first album together in a decade as the follow on to a string of single releases, including a split with Love Equals Death.
Exedo is a latin word meaning to eat up, devour, or consume. These acts, by self or others, are the genesis of themes for Exedo’s songs. The Chicago band explores lyrical subjects like wasteful resource consumption, betrayal by one’s own body as it undergoes aging and illness, and the devouring void of absence and loss. Exedo also consumes a range of musical influences from post punk and new wave, to 90s alternative, surf instrumentals, and a broad spectrum of DIY punk. The band digests this meal slowly, focusing on the sonic and stylistic through likes from one scene and era to the next, and crafting their songs layer by layer.
Each of the band's proceeds from this show will go to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR).
Presented by Sleeping Village.
