This hands-on course introduces a small group of students to the core techniques of modern DJing — from beatmatching and mixing to understanding music flow and crowd energy. You’ll learn on industry-standard equipment, Pioneer DJMA9 mixer and CDJ3000 players on a premium Funktion-One soundsystem. Guided by experienced instructors led by professor LANDONI plus special guests, you’ll be guided through a five week curriculum with over 10 hours on the decks to gain confidence in your ability to craft seamless sets, flawless transitions, and engage with the crowd. Whether your goal is to play local shows, just mix for fun, or start producing, this course gives you the solid foundation and real-world skills to make it happen. Classes are small, capped at just 6 students, to ensure personalized instruction and hands-on practice, giving each student more time on the decks and direct feedback from the instructor — helping you learn faster and build real confidence behind the controls. SYLLABUS WEEK 1 — Foundations - DJ vocabulary, computer / rekordbox / USB, DJ equipment, signal flow, EQ, cues, beat-matching. WEEK 2 — Mixing & Phrasing - Clean transitions, timing, phrasing like a pro. WEEK 3 — Energy Flow - Looping, build-ups, effects, advanced EQ, controlling the vibe. WEEK 4 — Set Construction - Track selection, creative mixing, genre blending, deeper dive into all previous. WEEK 5 — Performance Flow - Stage confidence, reading the room, Rekordbox crate prep, setting yourself up for success. GRADUATION - Graduation ceremony and performance to show your friends and family all that you’ve learned! We provide everything you need including the Pioneer DJMA9 mixer, CDJ3000 players, and all wiring, monitors, mics, etc. HEADPHONE - Kinda! We will provide one house pair or Pioneer DJ headphones in case, but students are highly encouraged to provide their own, as is customary for all DJs. USB - Yes! Students will need to secure a USB in order to do homework - setting cues, loading your USB, and bringing it to class to play! COMPUTER - Yes!
