Description
Ukraine’s techno phenom Daria Kolosova has been responsible for some of BASEMENT’s most memorable nights. Playing with an innate passion and drive, Kolosova keeps it real whether in a tightly-packed club or on a huge festival stage. There’s an integrity to her sets that cannot be faked or missed. Finding a sweet spot between throttling power and lush sensuality, Kolosova evokes the sublime in the rugged, high speed throb of the modern rave diaspora. Lacchesi’s eerie spaciousness hints at a cosmic awe and a nervous, furtive psychedelia. Drawing from the interplanetary sci-fi of Detroit visionaries like Jeff Mills, Lachessi’s productions are both mesmerising and genuinely haunting in equal measure. Mos completes the night with a stylish flair. The NY artist has become a regular at BASEMENT, pushing a taut, timeless sound with focused elegance and a keen ear for subtle, surprising details.
JADALAREIGN is one of NY’s most distinctive current voices. Her cultivated depth and expansive approach tie together myriad strains of house music, from the deliciously trippy to searing, distorted jack tracks. JADA’s incapable of a frivolous set; each and every time, she brings a degree of intention, rigor and vision that is exemplary. A year after his STUDIO debut, Tom Peters makes the trip back over from his home base in Berlin. Peters draws on the throbbing sexuality of tribal house and the unbridled expressiveness of classic diva vocals. This unapologetically queer music, raw and pulsating with a liberated spirit. Kilopatrah Jones steps back in the booth. If you’re not familiar with the NY mainstay, her Lot Radio residency “Divaa, Where’s My Purse?” tells you a lot of what you need to know. Jones plays with pure soul and pure abandon. She’s a deep house connoisseur, adding moments of gospel, tight, jacking power and acidic paranoia into the mix, without ever losing touch with the core joy that defines her sound.
