@akaMRdickerson and Heavy Waste return for another stacked Thursday night at Good Room.
GOOD ROOM:
Sissies of Mercy bring their sound that balances playful nostalgia and raunchy darkness to command a sweaty dance-floor. Weaving together diva-fueled house, sparkly 80's pop, nasty acid, and cheeky electro, Sissies' sets create shared moments of freedom and transcendent joy fueled by love and light.
Eggz opens the main room. The DJ, drag artist, and designer is committed to bringing queer spaces to life in NYC. For the last decade, the dance floor has been his playground, inspiring his core sound which leans into funky basslines and psychedelic grooves, sprinkled with punky, femme vocals.
Annie Lew takes the night home, showcasing her breadth by delivering a special house set. Known for blending elements of tribal rhythms and perpetuous bass lines to form a distinctive, deep sound as a techno DJ, she brings that skill set to explore a new area.
BAD ROOM:
Lydo headlines Bad Room. The Filipino-born Vietnamese-American sound artist and BASEMENT resident DJ’s distinctive sets explore the parameters of techno, deftly cutting across genres while retaining a highly personal emotional resonance. A non-binary trans artist themselves, Lydo launched X-TRA.SERVICES to serve and create space for queer, trans, and nonbinary people of color.
BRÄLLE closes out the night. Before stepping into the techno scene with 2017’s ‘Dream State’, BRÄLLE spent nearly a decade composing and touring in the underground Death Metal and Hardcore worlds. With releases on labels like Soma, Mindtrip, Evilgroove, and NewRhythmic, the project’s sound is swarming, psychedelic, and resolutely modern.
Heavy Waste resident Erik Braun warms up the room. With a background in percussion, and ongoing explorations of modular synthesis, Erik Braun is a techno DJ and producer, drawn to a track selection that heavily features tight grooves, abstract textures, and hypnotic tones.
$15 in advance.
$20 at the door.
