DOORS 6:30PM // $15 PRESALE
Thin Red Lines is a Naarm-based poetry/reading event co-hosted by Thabani Tshuma and Georgia/George Kartas. As our last event for 2025, and because we won't be back until mid to late next year, we're throwing an extra special event combining poetry and music. This musical edition is co-curated with musician Pelaya Arapakis. Don't miss this one!
NICK TSIAVOS
Nick Tsiavos is a bassist and composer whose work operates at the intersections of a number of cultural boundaries: from ancient chant to contemporary minimalism - large scale compositional topographies disrupted
through the instability of experimental improvisation.
Since 1994, Tsiavos has been developing new music for the solo bass as well a his ensemble projects. As an immigrant to Australia, a product of the Greek diaspora of the 1950's, he is interested in and informed by
non-canonical discourse, while refusing the tokenism that ethnicity often entails. The diversity of his cultural influences come together to create work articulating an intensely personal response to the problematics of
contemporary Australian culture.
For the past 30 years, Tsiavos has performed at festivals across Australia such as Dark Mofo, Four Winds, Canberra International, Adelaide Festival, and internationally, multiple performances for Glasperlenspiel Festival (Estonia ) Olavsdagen ( Norway ) and many concert tours to Greece.
