Description
Nicky Romero at Temple Denver
From a young producer experimenting with sounds from his bedroom to a globally recognized DJ, producer, and label owner, Nicky Romero established himself as one of the genre’s most influential figures. Known for hits like Toulouse and I Could Be the One (with Avicii), Nicky has built a career on originality, adaptability, and a deep understanding of music production.
Over the years, he has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Kygo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Steve Aoki. His ability to evolve while maintaining his signature sound has allowed him to stay relevant in a constantly changing industry.
Beyond his work as an artist, one of Nicky’s biggest contributions to the industry is his Kickstart plugin, a widely used tool that simplifies sidechain compression, a key technique in EDM production.
In 2012, Nicky founded Protocol Recordings, a label dedicated to showcasing fresh talent and exploring the boundaries of electronic music. The label has become a platform for both new talent and established artists, consistently delivering releases of high quality. Even during challenging times, Protocol has remained a driving force in the scene, helping artists reach new audiences and keeping fans engaged with innovative sounds and projects.
Nicky’s live performances are another cornerstone of his success. He regularly plays at some of the world's biggest festivals, including Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, EDC, and Creamfields. His high-energy sets and ability to connect with audiences have made him a staple at major events and a sought-after name on the international DJ circuit. He’s also a resident DJ at Zouk Las Vegas, further expanding his presence in the industry.
In 2020, he launched Monocule, a project that explores a darker, more underground side of electronic music. Since then, Monocule has gained a dedicated following, and Nicky’s performance at AMF during ADE 2024 showcased just how much the project has resonated with fans. This endeavor allows him to experiment creatively while staying true to his roots in progressive house.
In 2025, fans can expect even more new music and collaborations, including tracks with Gabry Ponte and Sam Feldt. With an ever-evolving sound and a commitment to innovation, Nicky Romero remains at the forefront of electronic music, shaping the future of the genre while continuing to inspire fans and fellow artists alike.
