Description
SHDW is back for a club night, following his Mutual Rytm takeover in the spring. True to his name, the German artist is an exemplar of the elusive-yet-physical, the mysterious and, yes, the shadowy. His imprint has become a significant platform for cutting edge techno. SHDW’s driving, honed sound sets the standard for the lot, whether as a DJ or producer. He’s achieved global renown, but SHDW’s work remains fiercely independent and radical. NDRX rides the fine line, playing with a rigor and dedication that sets him apart. As a resident of Bassiani, he’s been a load-bearing pillar of the thriving Tbilisi community. Harnessing a coiled, gritty grooviness, NDRX is one of those DJs who can keep a floor locked well past sunrise. Annie Lew ramps up the physicality. A true slammer, the Infra resident has become a regular at BASEMENT, bringing a renewing vitality to techno.
Midland returns to STUDIO. A true house music auteur, Midland broke out nearly a decade ago with the certified banger “Final Credits.” The track is one of the most wistful and elegant tunes in modern house music, fusing a tight disco groove with minimally arranged, melancholic synths and a killer vocal flip. “Play this at my funeral,” reads a YouTube comment with over 600 likes. “Y'all can be sad but keep it funky please.” But that’s hardly the end of the story. Since that early success, the UK producer has moved from strength to strength. Last year’s “Fragments of Us” is his long-awaited, strikingly ambitious debut album. Weaving recordings of queer activists and music with blinding power. The Carry Nation are a perfect match. The duo’s miraculous chemistry has made them a seminal voice in our current era. Few artists have given as much and supported the underground as wholeheartedly, while also performing on such a high level, as The Carry Nation. Their collaboration has been a definitive facet of house music in the new millennium, touching countless lives and helping to steer the trajectory to the culture for the better. NY mainstay Haruka completes the trifecta. Always adding a twist to the mix, Haruka adds a vital sense of possibility and brings a spirit of invention to every set.
