Description
"Considering the state of global politics, there's never been a better time to get reacquainted with the righteousness of Black Uhuru. The iconic reggae band, whose name means "Black Freedom" in Swahili, is still going strong after more than 50 years" - NPR
Since their formation in Jamaica in 1972, Black Uhuru has been one of the most popular roots reggae groups worldwide. The band was awarded the first ever Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1985, among countless accolades and awards, global tours, and major hit songs from their extensive catalogue. While most-known for their late-'70s and '80s classics — years defined by a game of musical chairs within the group with some of reggae music's all time greats —
2025 finds the group still in top form, led by founding member Duckie Simpson and co-lead Andrew Bees, the configuration in place since 1997.
Food & beverage are available for purchase at the show. The Bandshell is an open-air covered venue, all programs are rain or shine. Your ticket, once purchased, is non-refundable. Any questions? info@miamibeachbandshell.com
