Outlaw Legends – Celebrating 50 Years of Outlaw Country.
An Unforgettable Tribute to the Rebels Who Redefined Country Music
Join us for an extraordinary evening as we celebrate the pioneers of Outlaw Country—the raw, rebellious sound that broke all the rules and shaped a generation. This special event honours those who dared to go their own way: Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Billy Joe Shaver, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, and more.
We’ll journey deep into the heart of the 1970s, the defining decade of the genre, and relive timeless classics from landmark albums including:
🎵 Honky Tonk Heroes – Waylon Jennings
🎵 Red Headed Stranger – Willie Nelson
🎵 Wanted! The Outlaws – featuring Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter & Tompall Glaser
Experience these legendary songs reimagined live starring Shane Nicholson, Freya Josephine Hollick, Jeb Cardwell, Duncan Phillips and Stefanie Duzel, backed by a star-studded band featuring Roger Bergodaz (Lost Ragas, The Fat Rubber Band), Shane Reilly (Lost Ragas), Stephen Hadley (The Fat Rubber Band) and Brad Christmas (Copperline) - a passionate tribute to the music that rebelled against the mainstream and forged its own path.
Shane Nicholson:
Shane Nicholson is a Brisbane-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist revered for his introspective blend of alt-country, Americana, and roots music. From his early days with Pretty Violet Stain to a solo career spanning 11 albums—including the ARIA-winning Hell Breaks Loose (2015) and critically acclaimed Living in Colour (2021)—he’s earned three ARIA Awards, fifteen Golden Guitars, and two APRA Awards. His award-winning collaborations with Kasey Chambers (Rattlin’ Bones, Wreck & Ruin) further cemented his reputation. Known for heartfelt, honest storytelling and subtle musical craftsmanship, Nicholson continues to shape Australia’s country-roots landscape with soulful clarity and evolving emotional depth.
Freya Josephine Hollick:
Freya Josephine Hollick is a Ballarat-born singer-songwriter and guitarist acclaimed for her “cosmic country” sound, blending classic country storytelling with psychedelic, rock, and soul influences. Since her 2015 debut, The Unceremonious Junking of Me, she has released Feral Fusion (2018) and the critically lauded The Real World (2022), recorded at California’s Rancho de la Luna with Lucinda Williams’s band Buick 6 and pedal-steel legend Greg Leisz. Known for her evocative voice, fearless creativity, and authenticity, Hollick explores themes of transformation, resilience, and the human condition, pushing the boundaries of country music into bold, otherworldly, and deeply personal territory.
Jeb Cardwell:
Jeb Cardwell is a Melbourne-based guitarist, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist celebrated for his soulful blend of blues, Americana, and country. Over more than two decades, he has toured and recorded with acclaimed artists including Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson, contributing to their award-winning album Wreck & Ruin. He has also shared the stage with music legends such as Steve Earle and Tony Joe White. Cardwell’s 2021 solo debut, My Friend Defiance, was hailed by Double J as “one of the greatest albums of the year by an Australian artist” and praised by Rhythms Magazine for its refined musicianship, warm storytelling and timeless appeal.
Duncan Phillips:
Born and raised on the remote Shetland Islands of northern Scotland, Duncan Phillips grew up immersed in Americana and country rock, inspired by artists like Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, and Townes Van Zandt. Now based in Melbourne/Naarm, Duncan has built a solid reputation as a thoughtful, passionate songwriter and engaging performer. He’s supported legendary artists including Steve Earle and the late Justin Townes Earle, while garnering attention from key tastemakers such as Melbourne’s 3RRR and PBS, Sydney’s 2SER, and national platform JJJ Unearthed. His 2023 album ‘Home on a Saturday Night’ earned high praise from acclaimed music journalist and radio DJ Stuart Coupe, who hailed it as a diverse and powerful collection of poignant, hook-filled songs.
Stefanie Duzel:
Stefanie Duzel is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter respected for her blend of Americana, country, and folk-rock – infused with a pop sensibility. Her debut album, The Other Side, released in March 2023, was produced by Lachlan Bryan and Damian Cafarella and received recognition on the International Americana Music Show’s Best of 2023. Before fully committing to her music career, Duzel managed The Macedon Railway Hotel, a live music venue that faced challenges during the pandemic and was ultimately destroyed by a fire in 2021. This pivotal event led her to focus on her music, resulting in performances across Australia and the release of singles like “Ain’t Gon Be Me” in 2024.
