Wie sein rebellischer Name schon vermuten lässt, steht das Party-Kollektiv Dissident für Nonkonformismus – sowohl in Bezug auf Sound, Stil und Ästhetik als auch im sozialen Sinne. Es fördert eine Community, in deren Mittelpunkt Queers und Femmes sowie deren Beiträge zur Tanzmusik in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart stehen. Die erste Ausgabe in der Säule begrüßt Akua, deren Sets perfekt zu diesem Ethos passen: Die ghanaisch-amerikanische DJ lehnt kurzlebige Trends ab, stattdessen kristallisiert sie den beständigen Puls des Techno zu etwas heraus, das sowohl historisch verwurzelt als auch ganz und gar zeitgemäß ist. Mit dabei sind der niederländische DJ und Produzent Spekki Webu, dessen Debütalbum Neural Network Anfang des Jahres über Beyond the Bridge erschien, die in China geborene, in Berlin lebende Crate-Digger und Dissident-Gründerin Carly Zeng sowie Cryptofauna, eine Dissident-Resident, die auch als eine Hälfte des Duos Epikur bekannt ist. As its rebellious name suggests, party collective Dissident embraces nonconformity – in terms of sound, style and aesthetic as well as in a social sense, fostering a community that centers queers and femmes and their contributions to dance music, past and present. The first edition at Säule welcomes Akua, whose sets perfectly fits this ethos: rejecting fleeting trends, the Ghanaian-American DJ crystallizes techno’s enduring pulse into something both historically rooted and fiercely of the moment. Joining her will be Dutch DJ/producer Spekki Webu, whose debut album Neural Network came out via Beyond the Bridge earlier this year, along with Chinese-born, Berlin-based crate-digger and Dissident founder Carly Zeng, plus Cryptofauna, a Dissident resident who's also known as half of the duo Epikur.
