Description
Blawan makes his BASEMENT debut. One of the most unique and boundary-pushing voices in modern UK techno, Blawan’s work ranges from unholy warehouse severity to mangled experimental anthems. Blawan’s mastery of modular synthesis and hardware performance is uncontested, and it’s remarkable to see how much his music has evolved since his early, already-great recordings on Hessle Audio. Last year’s “BouQ” on XL is a record that can be legitimately labeled as singular. Its riotous techno sounds truly alien, with clouds of digital noise unfurling against chirping vocal chops and thundering, gooey drums. D.Dan matches his power and vision with a steelier approach. The Mala Junta resident can unleash with full bombast, often bringing a dancefloor to its knees. But in his own productions, D.Dan often shows a remarkable restraint that makes his tracks all the more powerful. Now releasing primarily on his own Summerpup label, D.Dan’s creative evolution is entering a fertile new stage.
Sedef Adasï brings her renowned Hammam Nights to STUDIO. Established nearly a decade ago, the series’ ethos seeks to “maintain the integrity of club culture and the feeling of unity, the freedom of individual expression and a space where marginalized identities and histories are loved, respected and celebrated without inhibitions.” Adasï’s own work can go from the effervescent rave of her “Fantasy Zone” EP to full-throttle nastiness. The full range is best represented in her sets, which approach house as a space of unbounded exploration. One of Adasï’s standout tracks from recent years is her remix of “C-Quence Of Calamities” by BASHKKA, who makes her debut at the club. The Munich-born, NY-schooled artist fuses her Turkish heritage with the raw power of Chicago house and higher tempo club freneticism. "My place of rebirth was New York,” she once said, and you can feel the city’s influence in her ruthlessly honed focus. A global artist whose releases are received with baited breath, BASHKAA is one of the artists at the forefront of the next movement in club culture. Mike Servito is the perfect compliment, a true master of jacking rhythms and acidic psychedelia. Few DJs bend your mind and twist your body quite like Servito.
