Description
At long last, Japanese techno titan DJ Nobu makes his debut in BASEMENT. One of the genuine masters of our time, Nobu is an artist of global renown who commands respect in every circle. A true digger with immaculate technique, Nobu’s credentials would be assured on those terms alone. But it’s the taut urgency and spiritual force he brings to his sets that make him a generational artist. For anyone wondering what the long game in music might look like, Nobu is an inspiration. His Future Terror parties are legendary, with guests ranging from the upper echelons of techno to experimental innovators, including Terry Riley. His Bitte label is a hub for Japanese hypnotic techno. And, despite a near constant world touring schedule, Nobu seems to have limitless capacity to send dancers to the stratosphere. BASEMENT resident Newa joins him. One of the key figures in the Tbilisi underground, Newa’s spacious, evocative techno is some of the finest in the current landscape. Her most recent release, last year’s “Equillibrium” on Bassiani, speaks to her ethos: carefully balanced, dynamic and lush, with a raw bite balancing out her refined approach.
Gerd Janson returns to STUDIO. A paragon of anthemic, liberated dance music, Jason’s music is infused with an authentic vigor and genuine warmth that cannot be denied. The Running Back boss has for decades been at the forefront of unfettered, joyous house that makes good on the communal spirit which animated the very first discos and clubs. The Carry Nation are similarly able to draw elegant depths from the brightest colors. The duo are an essential presence in STUDIO, where they deliver one masterclass after another. The Carry Nation’s galvanizing embodiment of house music’s purest joys and naughtiest impulses is peerless. NY’s e-Lite keeps the shimmering potency at peak levels. Moving through the same circles as The Carry Nation, e-Lite’s draws on the moody punch of timeless New York house.
