Felton Music Hall Presents:
LILA FORDE
with TWO PAPER SQUARES
Lila Forde - Some artists find music; for Lila Forde, music found her – and it’s been calling ever since. With a voice like honey and an “Americana soul” sound steeped in old-school jazz, R&B, and folk traditions, the Seattle-born singer/songwriter and The Voice semi-finalist carries the past into the present with refreshing ease. She does just that on her debut album VESSEL, a confident and cathartic coming-of-age record that captures the full spectrum of her artistry – from its roots in improvisation and harmony, to its emotional depth and genre-spanning warmth.
For Forde, the album’s title is more than metaphor – it’s a mission statement. “I want to be a vessel for the music,” she says. “I’m here to serve it.” VESSEL is meant to reflect the full spectrum of who she is – not just as a musician, but as a person. “I hope people get the whole rainbow,” she adds.
Two Paper Squares - Hailing from the foothills of Yosemite, California, Orion Cicoletti grew up inspired by the roots of classical bluegrass music from the countless festivals his family would attend as a child. After high school he would go to college on the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo where he met Dylan Fergusson. Dylan grew up learning and playing the guitar alongside friends with the ocean only a stone's throw away where he grew up on the North Shore of Oahu. The proximity to the beach came hand in hand with the folk and soft beach rock elements that would distinguish the songs that he grew up playing. When the two began to play music with each other, casual jam sessions turned into material songs that meant something more to the two than they first realized. The duo’s first self titled EP “Twopapersquares” was released in April of 2023 and featured two songs that were created in the living rooms of university housing and over campfires amongst close friends and family. “Drifting Away” and “Bark Beetle” represent the unique blend of bluegrass, folk, and soft beach rock that came about from their unique upbringings. The duo’s latest single “San Joaquin” released in February of 2024 featuring friend and vocalist Ada Ellisman represents the folk genre while incorporating classic bluegrass roots. The duo just released their first full length album, which features 13 original tunes covering a wide range of genres and exciting new sounds.
