Recieve
Receive is a heavy art rock band from Queens NY. Started in 2022 by Brendan Landis (Hey Exit, Glifter, Star Card, Big Hiatus), it was conceived as an ever-expanding compositional labyrinth — something to wander through, rather than be played in the background and politely ignored. In 2024, Already Dead Tapes released New Abrasions, a 47-minute EP of weird, loud, surreal tunes spanning a number of stylistic and philosophical interests.
In 2025, Brendan is joined by Calley Nelson on lead guitar (Star Card, Glifter, Childless), Brie Cutrer on bass (Bury Them and Keep Quiet, Ocean of Ghosts), and Randy Schott on drums. They are currently writing the band's second release.
Based in New York's ever-changing scene of underground experimental and extreme music, Receive emanates a high-energy set of ecstatic and exhilaratingly heavy music that turns heads, sparks curiosity, and is tough to ignore.
Hot Knives
Home grown in Bushwick, steeped in the rarefied air of glue factories, Hot Knives is a project of musical stitching: faded patterns of analog psychedelia // punk stewing in the Bowery since 1984, feeding crocodiles // the funk that departed on the Mothership, still beaming messages of hope to those who can pick up its signals. Hot Knives translates this new-old wisdom for our struggling world. The Hot Knives recipe is part MC5, part Butthole Surfers, part Funkadelic, part Motorhead, perfectly mixed like Nonna's Sunday sauce to create a slow simmered, but hard-hitting balance. Throwing back to the electric psychedelia of 67-72 and adding noisy bedroom punk weirdness of their own, elements of punk, funk, blues, and avant-garde drip and swirl together to create the face-melting sonic tapestry that is Hot Knives. The booties must shake. The eyes must open. Take some Hot Knives and get to work.
