Description
One of modern electronic music’s undisputed founders, Klaus Schulze conjured intuitive paths to otherworldly places. His emotive improvisation resulted in a warmth and charm often absent in the music of his peers. From his inventive drumming on Tangerine Dream’s first album to 2024’s posthumously released Milky Way, Schulze ’s legacy continues to expand minds and inspire new generations of aural explorers.
Join us as we celebrate Der Zauberer, Klaus Schulze with a second annual birthday tribute, featuring performances from three very different artists.
ARKHAM SUNSET, the electronic project led by Portland based producer Gerry Hathaway, blends cinematic layers of industrial, synth-pop, EBM and dark ambient textures for a uniquely stimulating experience. The sound is driven by a select merge of analog and digital synthesizers and drum machines. His passion for vintage horror and sci-fi subtly influences the themes woven throughout his music. Hathaway has spent nearly a decade developing his unique sound, releasing three full length albums and half a dozen EPs. His latest album, “Beneath”, released in fall, 2024 is widely regarded as his strongest material to date.
Arkham Sunset performances are an immersive visual experience, brought to life by artist Lee Ann Hathaway, Gerry’s wife, who designs and manages the lighting, stage elements and video projections. Together they craft a dynamic atmosphere that blends innovative music with retro-futuristic visuals.
FunSize Renegade is the solo project of Christopher Read (Manta, Quiet!, Time Grenade). His DIY recordings are informed by an organic Berlin School approach, inspired by vintage film scores, including works by John Carpenter and Piero Umialani and instigated by classic electro’s joyful pulse. Read, the event curator, will perform his Klaus tribute piece “Zauberer." “Your Warm Interiors," the 11th FunSize Renegade single is now available on Bandcamp and streaming on all platforms.
Noah Lane Coleman creates music that focuses equally on ambience, storytelling, composition, and improvisation using synthesizers, piano, electric guitar and bass, vocals, and field recordings.
