Skip Heller’s Schoolhouse Rock Revue Schoolhouse Rock creator Bob Dorough and eccentric auteur Skip Heller shared a remarkable four-decade friendship that only ended with Dorough’s passing at the age of 94 in 2018. The two collaborated frequently, and when vocalist Jack Sheldon (famed for “I’m Just a Bill” and “Conjunction Junction”) was sidelined by a stroke, Heller stepped in to sing those beloved classics during Dorough’s final West Coast shows in 2015. Heller’s legendary Carousel shows — spanning film noir, klezmer, exotica, and the music of Chicano pioneer Lalo Guerrero — are known for their blend of meticulous archival research and explosive live performance, featuring all-star ensembles that make vintage music feel brand new. Now, armed with Dorough’s original charts from the Schoolhouse Rock recording sessions, Heller and his band bring the music back to life in its pure, original form. No synths. No samplers.
