With a gritty and soulful roots aesthetic driven by dynamic vocals and compelling lyricism, this 5-piece group from Portland, Oregon is a tightly knit cadre of emotional intensity. In 2019, on the heels of their EP, Mind is a Mountain, The Get Ahead released their full-length record, Deepest Light, an open hearted statement on the celebration of life, healing, and hope. The album led to a showcase in Nashville's AmericanaFest and a feature on NPR Music's Station Breaks: The Best New Songs from NPR Stations. 2023 saw the band release their first new music in nearly five years, with the spirited two-song EP, The Day Comes. The band celebrated the release of the record on top of Mt. Hood, opening for Portugal The Man at Timberline Daydream. 2025 will see the emergence of a new approach to performance and an avalanche of single releases. Shelby Natasha is a Seattle based alt-folk musician and producer. Growing up living between the Pacific Northwest and China, her music is a blend of the folk music of both cultures. Her ghostlike vocals are accompanied by the Guzheng and lofi-beats, woven together with sounds collected from the natural world. She has been performing in festivals and showcases around the states such as Portland Folk Festival, Belltown Bloom, Song Suffragettes (Nashville), Open Folk (LA) and she will be playing at Oregon Country Fair this summer, as well as Northwest Folklife and Any Patch of Grass.
