Description
This immersive event is a love letter to the campy slasher films of the 1980s with our own original horror story unfolding in both spaces throughout the night-camp counselors and synth pop stars being hunted by two masked killers all while supernatural occurrences are bound to take place once the clock strikes Midnight on Friday the 13th…
…all happening while you party and enjoy synth DJ sets, live music, special performances, Friday the 13th flash tattoos, Polaroid photo ops, outdoor horror movies, marshmallow roasting, and a gory blood wrestling competition!
That's not all! From 5pm-8pm there will be a FREE day party in the backyard with a dance party, summer games, tarot readings, camp counselor shenanigans, and a charity raffle benefiting the The Center!
CAMP MONSTROUS is raising funds for The NYC LGBT Community Center. Right now, vulnerable communities are at risk from the powers meant to protect them. We know we’re stronger together. Every day, The Center provides life-enhancing and life-saving services spanning the areas of advocacy, health and wellness, recovery, youth, families, and the arts. Join us in supporting their work for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers by donating to The Center at the event through our charity raffle and many fun donation opportunities.
Along with raising funds for The Center, we will also be holding a Pride Pantry Drive where you are encouraged to bring new non-perishable items and goods that we will donate to various queer shelters to provide our community members in need with necessary goods. We will be putting out the full list of recommended items on our instagram @monstrous.nyc. Each item you donate will earn you a raffle ticket!
Both bars, inside and outside, will be open throughout the event featuring a special "Having Fun Since 1983" hurricane cocktail made with rum from our sponsor Misguided Spirits and hurricane mix from our friends at Strange Delight. The Zumbador will also be serving good eats for you hungry campers.
We encourage campers to disconnect from their devices and join us in the immersive world of a time before smartphones. Our team of professional photographers and videographers will get plenty of coverage of the event.
Dress code is "80s Summer Fun" so show up to camp in your crop tops, tease your hair, and party till you totally die!
DISCLAIMER: This event features simulated acts of violence and death, fake blood, guesome SFX, sexual themes, and flashing lights.
Aside from KN95s and surgical masks, no masks are permitted. Only the hired entertainment is allowed to wear Halloween masks.
We have a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate or offensive behavior. If you are acting up, messing with performance props and equipment, being disrespectful to performers, staff, patrons you will be asked to leave.
Door tickets will be $40. No queer BIPOC individuals will be turned away due to lack of funds. White Cishet folks are expected to pay full price and should donate as much as they can to The Center.
