Will West & the Friendly Strangers:
Long Time Portland based songwriter Will West relocated back to his home state of North Carolina during the pandemic in 2020. He’s getting the band back together for a special evening at Mississippi Studios.
Hailing from rural eastern North Carolina, Will West moved to Portland in the Summer of 2002. The son of a fiddle player, Will was surrounded by music at a young age. Inspired by old-time bluegrass and blues (and a touch of heavy metal) he started playing guitar when he was 11 yrs old. From his humble beginnings busking on downtown sidewalks and exploring open-mics, Will West has been on a steady rise in this rich Northwest music scene.
In 2010 he began to form a band of stellar musicians called The Friendly Strangers. Together they create a signature blend of Americana, Roots, Jazz, Pop and Bluegrass with a Psychedelic edge. Live shows are engaging, interactive and fun.
Tanner Cundy :
“Can I sing you a story?” asks Tanner Cundy on the opening track of Everyday Thinking, gently welcoming you into the carefully-crafted sonic adventure that follows. A soul-stirring showcase of Cundy’s multi-instrumental prowess, Everyday Thinking ranges from synth-rock epics with soaring Floyd-esque guitars to cozy mandolin-led poetry that echoes the early works of Nickel Creek. Visions of Northwest forestry combine with sandy Cornish seasides to evoke Cundy’s cross-continental roots; performances from featured artists including Jen Deale (Camp Crush), Mark Powers (Floater), and Mangal Suvarnan (BT) complete the storytelling in a deeply authentic manner. Everyday Thinking feels like a true classic: well worth a front-to-back listen and a spot on the shelf next to your favorite records.
Everyday Thinking will be released in July of 2025 on all streaming services, with a limited high-fidelity vinyl pressing available for order, and a full-band performance on July 8th at Mississippi Studios in Portland Oregon.
