Uniflora returned to Charm Co-Op, a fledgling recording studio in Chicago’s lively Pilsen neighborhood to work with engineer Erik Cameron. It recorded most of More Gums Than Teeth live, switching instruments for “Two or More” where Williams plays guitar and Dugan takes bass. With the extra time in the studio, the band expanded its instrumental palette beyond guitar, bass and drums. “Compared to our previous attempts at recording (during which we would try to record every unrecorded song we had in our arsenal in a single day), this set of studio sessions finally made recording feel like a project,” writes Dugan. More Gums than Teeth features electric twelve-string guitar (“I Was Made to Freeze”), synth textures courtesy of Williams, and kalimba (“From the City Circle”).
More Gums Than Teeth captures Uniflora experimenting, discovering and emerging with a distinct lyrical and sonic style--omnivorish post-punk for today. More Gums Than Teeth captures three young musicians pushing themselves in inspired new directions
