Description
For nine years, FIST has been a bastion of ruthlessly forward-thinking, expansive and wild techno & more. Rooted staunchly in NY’s queer clubbing underground, FIST has sought catharsis and transformation at the bleeding edge, with programming of such intensity that it can recall the “limit-experiences” described by Georges Battaile, who once said “nothing is more necessary or stronger in us than rebellion.” The team behind FIST might agree.
To celebrate the occasion, they’ve invited Perc back to BASEMENT to bring the hammer down. Perc is, without doubt, one of the premier hard techno operators in the world today. For years, he’s been setting the standard for absolutely concussive, granite-thick barbarism, while integrating a sneaky elegance to his sledgehammer assaults. His most recent LP, “The Cut Off,” shows him in peak form, with rolling momentum and hints of rave flashing in the gritty darkness. Isabella Koen’s teeming, imaginative productions stand out amongst a crowded field. A true hardware master, Koen’s capacity for fluid, crafty movement and quicksilver sound design is consistently refreshing. Residents Word of Command and DJ Clone continue to represent, with darkly snaking techno that radiates transgressive power.
Kiernan Laveaux is back in STUDIO. A true original, her blinding, vinyl-heavy sets upend convention and demand a response. Pulling from raw proto-dance, deep dubwise invocations and futuristic wigglers, Laveaux articulates a vivid dream logic and fearless punk energy on the dancefloor. Kilopatrah Jones adds a heavy dose of soul. A must-see artist in the current NY scene, Jones has become a breakout success on the strength of her undeniable authenticity and expansive approach. Her sound - rooted in classic house and its rolling, deep offspring - exemplifies the profound satisfactions and bliss that comes with a solid groove and some emotional realness. Flirty800 and DJ USA round it out with their infamous b2b. Unerringly queer, pulling from genres across the globe and riddled with vocal flips, club remixes and saucy drops, these two hold nothing back.
