Frontman Johnny Ray Jones was raised on the blues, cutting his teeth in LA’s gritty club scene under the mentorship of legendary Sam “Bluzman” Taylor, who traded vocal lessons for rides to gigs. His godmother, Tina Mayfield—widow of blues icon Percy Mayfield—booked him for his very first weekly residency at the iconic Blues Unlimited. With a voice soaked in soul and stories, Johnny Ray has shared the stage with Big Joe Turner, John Fogerty, and LA’s own blues-rock heroes, The Red Devils. The Mystic Chiefs channel that legacy into every performance—unfiltered, high-energy, and full of heart. Desert Blues Revival at the Cascade Lounge offers state-of-the-art sound and lighting with pristine acoustics and plush seating.
